We can’t control certain circumstances in our lives.
We all face painful, difficult, dark times. Maybe a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer. Maybe they are going in for a scan to see if the cancer has spread. Fear is a natural response. Life feels heavy.
When facing dark times, it’s easy to feel buried. There is pressure, stress, and darkness. It feels like a weight on us – we can’t see the light. We are just like a tiny seed, surrounded by darkness.
Now, let’s think about that tiny seed. A seed of hope. It has to be buried in order to sprout. It can’t grow into a beautiful, glorious, mighty tree unless it is covered in soil, in darkness.
If the buried seed gets the nurturing it needs- it will grow. If we nurture ourselves through the darkness we can grow also.
We can be loving and compassionate to ourselves and our sick loved ones. We can stay centered in love. We can bring the love to the circumstance, and not live in fear. We can accept the circumstance we can not change, and focus on what we do have control of.
There can be life and growth here, in this dark place. You may not see it at first – it takes some time. Remember the tiny seed.
What may initially seem like a burial, may actually be a planting.
You may be entering a new season of growth. You have everything you need to survive this dark, scary time. Don’t give up on life. Just as the tiny seed emerges from the dirt, you can too.
